PLUX wireless biosignals award 2011

Regulation
Objective
1. The "Wireless Biosignals Award" is promoted by PLUX (www.plux.info) as part of its research strategy, development and technological innovation. It aims to foster and contribute towards the development of a research culture in Electrophysiology, Physiotherapy, BioFeedback, Human-Machine Interface as well as Biosignals in Healthcare, Sports or Education. Bearing this in mind, PLUX will distinguish a technically and scientifically noteworthy research in these fields. The work is to be performed by Researchers in the aforementioned areas including PHd, MSc and graduate students. The Jury will recognize the contenders' work based on this Regulation.
2. The intent of the Award is to reward and divulge the excellence of innovative scientific research which clearly contributes to the widespread use of Biosignal-related techniques.
Award Regulation
1. The Award is ruled by this Regulation and the Jury is sovereign in its interpretation, application and in resolving its faults.
2. The Award Promoters reserve the right not to bestow the Award if no candidates fulfill the requirements set in this Regulation (Section 2, Article 7).
Award and Frequency
1. The "Wireless Biosignals Award" is a research award consisting of a bioPLUXresearch biosignal acquisition system which will be granted to the corresponding author of the best work. He will then decide on the best way to share the Award.
2. The Award, which is established for an indeterminate period, shall be awarded on an annual basis. The Promoters may suspend or terminate the Award at any moment without prejudice to the ongoing edition.
Eligibility
1. To be considered eligible for the Awards, the candidates must fulfill the following requisites:
a) Be a Researcher, PHd, MSc or graduate student in a Higher Education Institute;
b) Present a new work in scientific publication format with a maximum of 3500 words or a previously submitted/accepted scientific paper in the field. In the latter case, the date of submission/acceptance should not exceed a year prior to this Award's submission deadline.
c) Present their work individually or in co-authorship with other fellows.
2. The research must focus on at least one of the following topics:
- ElectroPhysiology
- Physiotherapy
- BioFeedback
- Human-Machine Interfaces
- Biosignals in Healthcare, Sports or Education
Application Process
1. Applications must be in English.
2. Applications must be sent by e-mail until September 29th 2011 17:00 CET to
. The subject must contain "Wireless Biosignals Award" in it.
3. The following documentation should be enclosed in the application:
a) The contending paper in .pdf format.
b) Identification of all the authors (name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and Institute of origin).
c) Curriculum Vitae of all the authors.
d) If applicable, a reference to the conference or publication where the article was previously presented or submitted , mentioning its edition and date, without prejudice to intellectual property rights or copyrights to which it may be subjected.
4. The application will only be considered valid if it contains all the documents referred in section 2
5. The submission the application implies the unconditional acceptance of this Regulation, as well as the authorization to verify the authenticity of the contenders' statements.
Selection Process
1. All the applications complying to the requisites stated in Article 5 will be evaluated by the Jury according to the criteria established in section 2 of the current Article.
2. The work will be appraised taking into account the following criteria of:
a) Excellence and scientific rigor
b) The study's impact on clinical activities
c) Innovative character
d) Curriculum of the team who developed the work
3. If the Jury deems necessary, the candidates may be required to participate in selection events or other means of evaluation, such as helping a third party with a consult or demonstrating the results shown in the submitted work.
4. All the data gathered during this process is strictly confidential and will not be disclosed even to the contenders. It will be disposed of as soon as it becomes unnecessary for the selection process.
5. During this process, the candidates may forfeit by unequivocally communicating their intents in writting. This will terminate any action involving the contender and will result in the elimination of the information gathered about him during this period.
6. The winner will be announced on the PLUX website (www.plux.info) and the authors will be informed by e-mail.
7. The "Wireless Biosignals Award" will be bestowed at the biostec 2012 conference in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal, between the 1st and the 4th of February 2012.
8. The Promoters will release the name(s) of the winning author(s) up to 10 days after the aforementioned event has taken place.
Jury
1. The Jury is sovereign in deciding whether or not to award the "Wireless Biosignals Award", in case no candidates fulfill the requirements.
2. The Jury shall be composed of a multi-disciplinary team of acclaimed members of the clinical and scientific community, encompassing all the relevant areas (Section 2, Article 4).
3. The jurors' names will be revealed until the application deadline on the PLUX website (www.plux.info).
Right to the Award
1. The right to the Award will be lost automatically, definitively and without need of any formal announcement if any of the following situations occur:
a) Existence of any irregularities in the application
b) The Award is not claimed within a maximum period of one year after the awarding.
c) During the period mentioned in b), the Awardee is indicted in any criminal or disciplinary procedure; He exhibits any kind of condemnable behavior towards the Promoters, participants or any of the parties involved.
Changes to deadlines and dates
1. The dates and deadlines defined within this Regulation may be changed by the Promoters of the "Wireless Biosignals Award" who will make sure that any change is publicly announced
