A rehabilitation suite that can be taken home in order to improve the motivation and adherence to complementary sessions of physiotherapy at home by using exercise interactive video games (exergames) and wearables.
This project intends to improve the efficiency and cost-efficacy of physiotherapy and rehabilitation processes by allowing to complement the sessions at the clinics with the execution of some exercises at home.
The Do IT Project is aimed at creating and then multiplying within the national health value chain a series of "ecosystems" based on strong and functional partnerships between organizations with complementary activities and skills in this field - namely, companies , entities of the scientific and technological system, and hospitals - that promote an effective transfer, valorization and exploitation of the results generated through R & TD activities. wiCardioResp offers a way to monitor, at distance, patients that are subjected to cardio-respiratory ambulatory monitoring. It was thought to be used in the comfort of home, through a set of handheld devices and wireless networks which allow great flexibility and freedom. wiCardioResp is the combination of a non-invasive ventilation device (NIV) and a kit of wireless sensor modules. These elements communicate with a mobile device via Bluetooth® to send the acquired data to a remote system, providing a continuous monitoring of the patient.

Heart and Respiration In-car Embedded Nonintrusive Sensors. Wouldn't you want an alarm to go off if you fall asleep driving? This is possible by monitoring cardiac and respiratory rhythms. The objective of the HARKEN project is to measure both variables in a nonintrusive manner in a environment of vibrations and user movements, by means of smart materials embedded in the seat cover and the safety belt of the car.

Living Usability Lab – LUL (Living Usability Lab for Next Generation Networks). Other project partners include Microsoft, INESC Porto and the University of Aveiro in Portugal. The project, which is active in the field of live usability testing, focuses on the development of technologies and services to support healthy, productive and active senior citizens. The campaign “Donate your Voice” is part of the LUL project and aims to create a database with samples of the voices of senior citizens in order to develop a voice recognition system. The Living Usability Lab is a collaborative R&D Project joining industry and universities and plays an active role in the use of innovative technology.
